A seahorse, a dove, a horse. For his first exhibition in Dubai, Simon Berger looked beyond the portrait and worked with animals and plants, each carrying its own symbolic meaning. The seahorse holds a balance between vulnerability and power, the dove stands for peace and grace, the horse for strength, heritage and freedom. Berger translated these motifs into sculptures and wall works in fractured glass.

The exhibition was conceived by the artist Ambika Hinduja Macker in collaboration with ICD Brookfield Place, around the idea of the sublime: experiences so vast that they leave us in awe. Fifteen international artists responded to the forces of nature through five elements – water, fire, earth, air and spirit – in sculpture, painting, installation and sound.
