For his second collaboration with Gallotti&Radice, Simon Berger moved his portraits from the rectangular pane to round mirrors, set in black lacquered metal frames. The new shape and material led him to develop his technique further.

Glass lets the eye look at an image and through it at the same time. A mirror sends the gaze back to the viewer. Portrait and reflection meet on the same surface, and viewers see the depicted face and their own at once.
