In 2022, Adriano Berengo invited Simon Berger to take part in Glasstress for the first time. The seventh edition, State of Mind, was shown in a former glass furnace on Murano, alongside the 59th Venice Biennale, with works by artists including Ai Weiwei, Erwin Wurm, Jaume Plensa, Laure Prouvost and Thomas Schütte.

Its central theme was fragility, of glass and of the times we live in, and the idea that what breaks can be restored.

For Berger, it became one of the most important milestones of his career. Seeing his portraits among artists who shape the history of contemporary glass art had a lasting influence on his work. It encouraged him to explore the possibilities of his technique in greater depth. Two years later, he returned for Glasstress 8½.
