Architecture & Commissions
Site-specific works developed in dialogue with architecture, design, hospitality and commissioned contexts.
Each project begins with its context: an architectural surface, a sequence of spaces, the history of a place or an identity connected to it. Berger develops the work from the site itself. Projects take the form of permanent glass installations, freestanding sculptural works, integrated wall or window pieces, or series conceived for a particular interior.
Working with the site
Glass has a particular relationship to architecture. It can carry an image while retaining its transparency, and define a space without closing it. It responds continuously to daylight, artificial light, reflection and movement. Berger uses these properties as part of the work, so that its perception changes with its surroundings.
Collaboration
Each commission is developed individually, from first concept and scale studies to material development, production and installation. Depending on the project, Berger works with architects, interior designers, curators, developers and hospitality groups, as well as with specialist glass studios and fabricators.
Conversations are welcome early, ideally while the architecture is still being planned.
